Many of us struggle from time to time with varying degrees of life issues. Problems like low self image or a struggle to live a godly life take away our joy. Sometimes, we are overcome with irrational or unreasonable fears, anxiety or depression. Some of us have difficulty controlling lustful, violent, angry or other bad thoughts, and sometimes even hear voices or have nagging, negative thoughts. We wrestle with eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia or overeating, and we may even engage in self-mutilation like cutting, or other self-destructive behavior. Thoughts of suicide may sometimes occur, or may occupy our minds. We may have difficulty overcoming the effects of verbal, physical or sexual abuse, and we may have been involved in the occult, cults, or false religions. There may be sins, habits or addictions over which we have little or no control.
If any of these issues apply to your life, you may be in a condition known as spiritual bondage. No matter how hard you try, it seems to be impossible for you to overcome these problems. You may think you are the only one struggling with these issues, but you are not alone.
It is possible through the power of Jesus Christ to be free from the bondage of bad thoughts, depression, unreasonable fears, bad habits or sins, anxiety, addiction, suicidal thoughts, self-mutilation, and an inability to live a victorious believer's life. It is possible to live the way that God wants you to live without constantly being controlled by the world, the flesh and the devil. This is called freedom in Christ.
Spiritual bondage is caused by unresolved personal and spiritual conflicts that are actually the root problems interfering with our relationship with God. By resolving these conflicts, we can live our lives in the way that God intends for us to live, and we can have a closer, more personal relationship with Him.
The process of conflict resolution is known as Discipleship Counseling. Jesus explained how to become free: "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:31-32 NKJV).
Freedom in Christ of Rochester is devoted to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, making disciples and helping Christians resolve personal and spiritual conflicts in their lives.
